Compact Circularly Polarized Microstrip Antenna with Slits on both Patch and Ground Plane

w w w . i j e c t . o r g InternatIonal Journal of electronIcs & communIcatIon technology 77 Abstract A novel compact circular-polarization (CP) operation of a pair of truncated corners square microstrip antenna with two slits and four slits on the ground plane is proposed and investigated. The proposed compact CP design can have an operating frequency reduction of about 21.95% as compared to the conventional corner-truncated square microstrip antenna of same size without any slits on patch and ground plane. Also, the gain and directivity of the proposed CP antenna are 2.51dBi and 5.42 dBi respectively. The 3 dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth of about 0.43% is obtained. Details of the antenna design and simulation results are presented and discussed.
